I visited one of the workshops, where the catalog of initiatives was introduced to grassroot NGO’s. There were some participants who participated in the creation of the catalog from the beginning, so I took the chance to make some interviews.
Meet Ancuța: in the first video she tells the personal story that is behind her work, and how she found her call. I strongly recommend all of you to watch it.
She works with mentally disabled people in the NGO Asociatia pentru Protejarea si Ajutorarea Handicapatilor Neuro-Psihici (APAHNP). You can see their page in the catalog website here. Ancuța gave me a brief explanation of what the association is about, and you can also watch the video that was made about them in the project.
.
And here’s the really interesting part. Ancuța speaks about her opinion about civil society in Romania. She names issues like the need to change mentality, the credibility and appreciation of NGO’s and the power of a network. I really liked her straightforward style, so when I was asked to choose participants for a roundtable on the international worskhop in Visegrád, I chose her. Unfortunately she was ill and couldn’t come. Luckily you can watch her on video, and I hope you can meet her in person next time.
